Sports Facility
Challenge:
Something that is noticeably lacking in Rwanda are parks and recreation centers. At Hagari we believe that play is very important to the development and well being of a child. Over the years we have been training a handful of kids in tennis. There are many others who would like to play but the transport cost to the courts for 30+ kids is prohibitive and it is nearly impossible to even get a court to play on. We also have a group of kids who are very good traditional dancers. It is a beautiful thing to watch! But we have no place for them to practice. Not having our own facility limits the number of kids we can engage in sport, as well as the activities that we can offer.
Request:
Imagine if we had our own facility with a clubhouse, tennis courts, a playground, and a soccer field! This would be a dream come true. There would be an opportunity for many more kids to play tennis, community soccer games, plenty of space for the dance team to practice, and a place for kids to gather on the weekends to play instead of finding themselves in trouble on the streets. This would be a safe place, a place to find comfort and strength and plenty of fun. Not only that, but it would also be a place that the community would be drawn to. We envision families coming together to have fun, adults coming to support their children or to have friendly competitions themselves.
We expect to purchase a large piece of land within the next 8 months. But we need to raise a significant amount of money in order to build this amazing facility we are dreaming of. We are shooting for $300,000 to build out the tennis courts, playground, soccer field and a clubhouse.
Even though it is a large amount, every dollar makes a difference! Would you join us in building our dreams by making a donation today?
