A Voice Unfolding

Meet Quente, a 12-year-old learner in Primary Three whose journey is a quiet but powerful story of growth and transformation.

When Quente first joined the class, he was extremely timid and withdrawn. The classroom, filled with voices, movement, and collaboration, felt overwhelming to him. He often kept to himself, avoiding group activities and shying away from presenting his work. Interacting with others was particularly challenging, and he struggled to find his place among his peers.

Academically, Quente had the ability, but his fear of speaking and engaging held him back. Group discussions, oral presentations, and even team-based activities in Physical Education were areas of difficulty. He preferred working alone, where he felt safe, but this limited his growth in both confidence and collaboration.

Yet, beneath the quietness was a spark waiting to be nurtured.

With intentional support from his teachers, Quente began a gradual journey of change. They guided him patiently, helping him understand the importance of teamwork and creating safe opportunities for him to participate. He was encouraged to share ideas and engage in group tasks. Presentations started in small, familiar groups, allowing him to build confidence step by step until he could eventually speak on his own.

At the same time, his parents played a vital role in reinforcing this growth. His mother closely monitored his progress and ensured that the same encouragement extended beyond the classroom. Recognizing the importance of teamwork, she enrolled him in a football academy, where he could practice collaboration and build social confidence in a different environment.

Slowly but surely, Quente began to change.

Today, he is no longer the timid boy who avoided participation. Academically, he confidently shares ideas with classmates and presents his work without fear. His voice, once hesitant, is now growing stronger with each opportunity he takes.

Behaviorally, he has embraced the value of teamwork. In fact, he has become one of the students who help organize teams during playtime—a remarkable shift from the boy who once struggled to engage with others. He now understands that success is not just about individual effort, but about working together.

One of Quente’s standout strengths is in Mathematics. His ability in the subject is exceptional, often solving problems from Primary Four—well above his current level. This strength continues to shine as his confidence grows in other areas.

While he is still a work in progress—occasionally losing track of his thoughts when speaking—his progress is undeniable. Each attempt he makes is a step forward, and his willingness to try reflects a learner who is steadily finding his voice.

Quente’s story is a testament to the impact of patience, collaboration, and consistent support. With dedicated teachers guiding him and supportive parents reinforcing his growth, he is becoming the confident, capable learner he was always meant to be.

And though his journey is still unfolding, one thing is certain—Quente is well on his way, and his future is full of promise.

Finding Her Way Again

Sushina joined Inzozi Academy as a bright and curious child who began her educational journey with promise. At just ten years old and now in Primary 3, Sushina has been part of the Inzozi family since Nursery school. From the very beginning, she stood out as an intelligent and lively little girl. With the care, patience, and attentiveness of her teachers, she gradually grew into a bold, confident, and smart learner who enjoyed participating in class activities. Her early years at school were marked by steady progress and enthusiasm for learning.

However, as Sushina transitioned into Primary 3, something began to change. The class introduced new academic demands, and the learning content became heavier and more complex than what she had previously experienced. This sudden shift overwhelmed her. Instead of facing the new challenges head-on, Sushina began to withdraw from her responsibilities. Tasks that once excited her started piling up, and she gradually developed habits of disorganization and irresponsibility.

Her teachers noticed the change almost immediately. The once energetic and engaged learner was now struggling to keep up with assignments, particularly in English language lessons. She often left tasks unfinished and appeared distracted during lessons. What worried the teachers even more was that the same pattern was also happening at home. When they spoke with her father, he confirmed that Sushina had also become disorganized in her daily routines and less responsible with her chores.

Rather than criticizing or labeling her as a careless student, Sushina’s teachers chose to approach the situation with understanding and compassion. They realized that the sudden change in academic expectations from the lower classes to Primary 3 had overwhelmed her. Instead of punishing her mistakes, they focused on finding ways to guide and support her back to stability.

Her teachers began encouraging her and reassuring her that she was still capable of succeeding in this new class. They reminded her of the intelligent and confident learner she had always been. To help rebuild her sense of responsibility, they started giving her structured assignments and closely monitored her progress. Multiple tasks were assigned at the same time, but she was held accountable for completing each one. This approach gradually helped her develop better organizational skills and learn how to manage her responsibilities.

At the same time, the teachers worked closely with Sushina’s parents to ensure that the support continued at home. Television time was reduced at home and she was encouraged instead to focus on completing her household chores before moving on to other activities. Following this guidance, her parents created a more structured routine at home, reinforcing the same sense of accountability that her teachers were building at school.

Slowly but surely, Sushina began to regain her footing. With consistent encouragement from both her teachers and parents, she started completing her assignments at school and her chores at home. Her confidence gradually returned, and the sense of responsibility that had once faded began to grow stronger again.

Today, Sushina is doing much better both mentally and academically. She now shows greater concentration in her studies and takes her responsibilities more seriously. Her teachers have also noticed that she excels particularly in practical activities. She demonstrates strong creativity and leadership when organizing role plays and participating in class presentations, areas where her confidence truly shines.

Sushina’s journey is a powerful reminder that sometimes students do not fail because they lack ability, but because they need guidance when facing new challenges. With the support of observant teachers and committed parents, she was able to overcome a difficult phase and rediscover her potential.

Her story stands as a testament to the impact of patience, encouragement, and teamwork between school and home. With the right support system, every child can regain confidence, grow in responsibility, and continue moving forward on their path to success.

Jeshua2

The Power of a Strong Foundation

Meet Jeshua, a bright seven-year-old girl in Primary One, the second born in her family, whose journey is a beautiful reminder that growth takes time, patience, and love.

When Jeshua first joined school, her world felt small and guarded. Though she had been welcomed into the Hagari family back in Nursery One, her early days were marked by silence. She was very quiet, often keeping her thoughts to herself, as if her words were locked behind an invisible door. Expressing herself did not come easily. In class, while other children eagerly raised their hands, Jeshua would lower her gaze, hoping not to be noticed.

Reading, too, was a mountain she struggled to climb. Letters seemed confusing, words felt heavy, and lessons that required reading often left her frustrated. The difficulty in understanding texts made working through her assignments more challenging than it needed to be. Behind her silence was not a lack of ability, but uncertainty — and sometimes anger.

Jeshua wrestled with feelings she did not fully understand. When she felt overwhelmed, her frustration would show. She struggled with anger, and because she could not always communicate her thoughts clearly, misunderstandings happened. At times, interacting with classmates became difficult. Sharing materials during playtime felt like a challenge, and group work sometimes turned into moments of tension rather than teamwork. It was clear that Jeshua needed more than academic instruction; she needed guidance, patience, and a safe space to grow.

Her transformation has been a journey — not an overnight miracle. Since being taken in by Hagari in Nursery One, she has been nurtured with intention. The foundation laid in her early years became the soil in which change would slowly, steadily take root.

Her teachers played a remarkable role in this journey. They saw beyond the quiet exterior and the flashes of anger. Instead of labeling her, they leaned closer. Through gentle one-on-one discussions, they created moments where Jeshua felt heard. In those quiet conversations, she began to find her voice. Her teachers also set aside extra time specifically for reading. Patiently, letter by letter and word by word, they guided her through storybooks, helping her decode sounds and build confidence. They celebrated her small victories — a correctly read sentence, a clearly expressed thought — and those celebrations became stepping stones toward greater growth.

At home, Jeshua’s parents became active partners in her development. They spoke to her about the importance of working well with others and guided her on how to manage her emotions positively. They encouraged kindness, sharing, and cooperation.

Communication between her parents and teachers remained consistent, ensuring that Jeshua received unified support both at school and at home. When she carried her storybooks home, her parents gently reminded her to read, reinforcing the efforts made in class. Their encouragement created continuity — a bridge between school and home that strengthened her progress.

Slowly, change began to unfold.

Academically, Jeshua’s reading skills improved noticeably. Words that once seemed intimidating began to make sense. She started recognizing patterns, sounding out letters with growing ease, and understanding the stories she read. More importantly, her confidence blossomed. The once-quiet girl began to raise her hand. She started expressing her thoughts more clearly and participating actively in lessons. Her ideas, once hidden, now flowed freely.

Behaviorally, the transformation was equally inspiring. The anger that once created barriers gradually softened. Jeshua learned healthier ways to express her feelings. She began interacting well with her classmates and grew comfortable in group settings. Sharing materials during playtime no longer felt like a burden. Instead, she found joy in collaboration. She actively contributes to group assignments and enjoys playing and spending time with her peers. Laughter now replaces tension; teamwork has replaced isolation.

Today, Jeshua stands as a confident and eager learner. She walks into her classroom not with hesitation, but with readiness. She engages, she reads, she collaborates, and she smiles more freely. The quiet child who once struggled to communicate has grown into a young girl who shares her ideas with clarity and courage.

Jeshua’s journey is a powerful testimony to what consistent support can accomplish. It reflects the impact of teachers who invest beyond the lesson plan, parents who reinforce positive values at home, and a nurturing foundation laid early through Hagari’s care. Her story reminds us that transformation is rarely instant. It is built day by day — through patience, guidance, encouragement, and love.

For Jeshua, school is no longer a place of frustration or silence. It is a place of growth, friendship, and possibility. And as she continues her journey, one thing is certain: with the strong foundation beneath her and the support around her, Jeshua is ready to rise even higher.

For the past five years, Mama Breven and her family have built a peaceful, resilient life grounded in unity, faith, and shared purpose. Their household includes Papa Breven, who works as a delivery driver transporting goods, Mama Breven, who supports the family through tailoring, and their son, Breven. From the beginning of their marriage, Papa and Mama Breven made a thoughtful decision to practice family planning, choosing to raise one child so they could strengthen their family’s wellbeing and economic stability.

Guided by mutual respect and prayer, the family has faced life’s challenges with hope. They actively participate in savings groups, which help them meet essential needs such as rent, food, clothing, and other household expenses. Living peacefully together and putting God first have been central to their growth and progress. Even when difficulties arise, Papa and Mama Breven make decisions together, support one another, and pray as a family. While Papa Breven often works on Sundays and cannot regularly attend church, Mama Breven faithfully attends a Protestant church and continues to pray on behalf of her entire family.

The family has experienced God’s grace in a special way since Breven began receiving educational support from Hagari Rwanda. This support, which helps cover his school fees, has been a source of provision and encouragement beyond what they expected. Mama Breven shares deep gratitude for the teachings and training she has received through Hagari Rwanda, explaining that they have transformed her mindset, strengthened her relationships, and empowered her to build a better future for her family.

That transformation is clearly reflected in Breven’s growth at Inzozi Academy. Now a Nursery 1 student, Breven has made remarkable progress in both practical life skills and cognitive development. He confidently completes daily tasks such as pouring liquids, washing towels, cleaning shoes, carrying a tray, and turning book pages. His curiosity and problem-solving abilities shine through activities like sound recognition and role play, and he loves learning about plants, animals, and different forms of transport.

Breven demonstrates strong numeracy skills, well-developed motor abilities, and enthusiasm during games and group activities. He is compassionate and kind, often helping his peers and taking responsibility for his belongings. Most of all, he is passionate about learning. He eagerly expands his English vocabulary and delights in using new words in conversation, showing both confidence and dedication to his growth.

Together, the steady strength of Breven’s family and his flourishing development at Inzozi Academy tell a powerful story of hope, dignity, and opportunity. Tricia and Her Mother: Strength Growing Together

Tricia is a joyful, curious learner whose presence brings warmth to her classroom at Inzozi Academy. With a laugh that fills the room and a deep love for learning, Tricia has made remarkable progress in just her first term. She confidently greets others, introduces herself, recognizes colors and shapes, and approaches each day with enthusiasm. She loves painting, sorting colors, spending time with her best friend Britta—and she proudly shares that her favorite possession is a red dress.

When asked about the future, Tricia doesn’t hesitate: she wants to be a doctor.

Behind Tricia’s bright smile is a mother whose strength has carried an entire family. As the eldest child in her family, Mama Tricia is the sole provider for her mother, stepfather, four younger siblings, and Tricia. She relies on daily wage labor and faces the emotional and financial strain of raising her daughter without support from Tricia’s father. For years, the weight of responsibility felt heavy and unrelenting.

Everything began to change when Tricia was enrolled at Inzozi Academy through Hagari Rwanda’s educational sponsorship. With her daughter in a safe, nurturing school environment, Mama Tricia felt a burden lift. Beyond easing financial strain, Hagari Rwanda offered something deeper—community, encouragement, and renewed hope.

“I feel strong and empowered now that my daughter is in a good school and being part of the Hagari Rwanda family,” Mama Tricia shares.

Today, Tricia is thriving, and her mother is no longer walking alone. Their story is one of shared growth—where a child’s opportunity becomes a family’s renewed strength, and hope takes root for generations to come.

Charlotte and Godson: From Survival to Hope

Charlotte—known lovingly as Mama Godson—is a resilient mother whose life has been shaped by both hardship and determination. Orphaned at a young age, she grew up without the stability or support every child deserves. By 19, she had become a mother herself, carrying a deep resolve to give her children the love and security she never had.

Today, Charlotte cares not only for her three biological children but also for two additional children in need. She works tirelessly as a cleaner, taking on any job available to keep food on the table. At home, life has not been easy. Her husband, a motorcycle mechanic, struggles with alcohol addiction, bringing instability and pain into the household. For a long time, Charlotte lived in a constant state of worry—unsure how she would make it through each day.

Everything began to change when her son, Godson, was enrolled in Hagari Rwanda’s Student Partnership Program and joined Inzozi Academy. For the first time in years, Charlotte felt a deep sense of relief. Knowing Godson was safe, cared for, and receiving a quality education allowed her to work without fear. But the impact went far beyond the classroom.

As Godson began to thrive at school, Charlotte was invited into Hagari’s weekly family development trainings. There, she found more than practical tools—she found community. Through lessons on stress management, healthy relationships, and goal setting, Charlotte rediscovered her own strength. Bible studies and prayer sessions helped her reconnect with her faith, restoring hope and courage for the future.

“I used to feel like I was just surviving,” Charlotte shares. “Now I feel like I’m growing. I have peace. I have community. And I believe things can be different for my children.”

That transformation is evident in Godson every day.

Godson is one of the shining stars at Inzozi Academy. He comes to school full of joy and curiosity, eager to learn and explore the world around him. He communicates confidently in English, loves storytelling and role-play, and shows remarkable independence in daily routines like hygiene and practical life tasks. His strong motor skills shine during physical activities, and his curiosity extends to topics like animals, plants, transportation, and weather.

Just as remarkable is Godson’s heart. He is kind, generous, and always ready to help his classmates—whether assisting a friend or volunteering for small tasks like washing shoes. He doesn’t like being alone; he thrives in community, showing care and warmth to everyone around him.

When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, Godson beams and says, “I want to drive a firetruck!”

Because of your generosity, Charlotte’s story is no longer one of survival—it is a story of healing, growth, and hope. And Godson’s future is no longer uncertain—it is full of possibility.

Thank you for standing with families like Charlotte’s. Your support is changing lives—one mother, one child, one hopeful future at a time.

A Brighter Path for Isimbi

Agnes, mother of young Isimbi, remembers a time when her family stood at a difficult crossroads.

With limited resources and growing needs at home, she feared she would never be able to give her daughter the quality education she deserved. When Hagari Rwanda stepped in, offering Isimbi the opportunity to attend a good school, it lifted a heavy burden off her family. Agnes speaks with deep gratitude about how this support arrived at exactly the right moment.

With the sponsorship easing the cost of education, the family could redirect their limited resources toward supporting Isimbi’s younger sibling, bringing renewed stability and peace of mind into their home. For Agnes, the change has been deeply encouraging—an answer to prayer and a reminder that her family is not alone on this journey.

And from her very first days in the classroom, little Isimbi began to shine.

Her teachers immediately noticed her enthusiasm and natural love for learning. Within just a few days, she had already mastered basic greetings and polite English expressions. She confidently introduces herself—sharing her name, her school, and even her class with pride.

Isimbi’s curiosity is contagious. She delights in identifying colors in English, asks thoughtful questions, and models excellent behavior for her classmates. Her confidence and positive attitude have made her a quiet leader among her peers, uplifting the entire classroom environment.

Her rapid growth is a beautiful testimony to what can happen when a child is given the chance to learn in a supportive, nurturing environment.

As this family continues moving toward a brighter future, we invite you to keep them in your prayers. May God strengthen them, provide for their needs, and bless Isimbi as she continues to grow in confidence, knowledge, and joy.

A Journey of Growth and Confidence

Meet Divine

Divine is a bright ten-year-old girl in Primary Four at Inzozi Academy. Though her parents are alive, Divine lives with her aunt, who lovingly cares for her and ensures she continues her education.

When Divine first joined Inzozi Academy, she faced many challenges — especially with understanding and speaking English, the language used for instruction. Lessons felt overwhelming, and her confidence in class began to fade. She often sat quietly, hesitant to speak or participate, unsure of how to express herself. Her struggle with English made it hard to concentrate, and over time, her academic performance began to drop.

Another obstacle Divine faced was the long distance she had to walk each morning to reach school. The tiring journey left her exhausted and often late, which made it even harder for her to stay focused during lessons.

Seeing her struggles, her teachers decided to step in. They reached out to her guardian to discuss how to make her daily journey easier. Together, they found a solution — supporting Divine with bus fare every morning so she could travel comfortably and arrive on time.

The change was remarkable. Almost immediately, Divine began coming to school early, full of energy and excitement, ready to learn. She became more attentive in class and started to enjoy her lessons. Her teachers also introduced engaging classroom activities that helped her build confidence and gradually strengthen her English skills.

Week by week, Divine’s progress became clear. Her spoken English improved, her voice grew stronger, and her confidence began to shine. She started answering questions, engaging with her classmates, and even helping others who struggled as she once did.

Today, Divine is a transformed learner. Her academic performance has improved significantly, and she’s now one of the most cheerful and enthusiastic students in her class. She comes to school with joy, participates eagerly, and radiates confidence in everything she does.

Divine’s journey is a beautiful reminder of what happens when teachers and guardians work hand in hand to support a child. With just a little understanding and encouragement, a child’s potential can truly shine.

For Divine — the girl who once sat quietly, unsure of her words — school has now become a place of confidence, growth, and endless possibilities.

“Because of Hagari, My Dreams Are Alive” by Sarah

When I think about my life, it’s like reading a book with two very different chapters— one before Hagari, and one after.

In the first chapter, my world felt small. School was not a place I could belong to—it was something I only watched from a distance. Every morning, I would see other children, dressed neatly in their uniforms, walking to class with their books tucked under their arms. I would stand at the doorway of our home, my heart aching, wondering if my life would always be defined by “what could have been.” My family barely had enough for food, let alone school fees or supplies. My dreams felt like stars—beautiful, but impossibly far away.

And then… the story shifted.
Hagari entered my life like a light piercing through a long night. They didn’t see me as a statistic or a burden—they saw me as someone worth investing in, a seed that could grow if only given a chance.

From nursery school to now, as I complete Senior Three, they have paid my school fees, bought my books, and placed hope in my hands.

But their gift was more than education. They became my family. They taught me values that shaped not just my mind but my heart—patience when life is slow to change, persistence when the road gets steep, and faith when the path ahead seems uncertain. They didn’t just help me—they helped my mother, too. They placed a sewing machine in her hands, turning her skills into income. They filled our home not only with opportunity but also with the Word of God. Through Bible study, they gave us a foundation stronger than any storm.

Because of Hagari, my dreams are no longer distant stars—they are within reach. I have learned that every hurdle can be a stepping stone, that yesterday’s failures do not define tomorrow’s victories. I now believe I can change my life, support my family, and give back to my country.

I have learned to love as I have been loved—to serve, to share, and to lift others as I have been lifted. My greatest wish is to pass on the same gift that was given to me: the chance to rise above poverty and step boldly into a future filled with possibility.

To my Hagari family—thank you. Thank you for your sacrifices, your belief in me, and your presence in every season of my life. I am who I am because you chose to care. My success will forever be your legacy.

When the Quiet Ones Rise: Frank’s Story

Meet Frank, a quiet six-year-old boy with deep, observant eyes and a heart full of untapped potential. When Frank first joined Hagari, he was in a fragile state—his mind seemed distant, and his ability to focus or engage in any activity was alarmingly low. Something wasn’t right, and those around him could sense that he was not thriving the way a young child should.

Coming from a home with limited resources, Frank’s family was doing their best. They are a humble household of five, including Frank and his two siblings, trying to make ends meet without a stable source of income. Life for them was not easy. But what they lacked in finances, they made up for in love and resilience. Frank’s parents seized every opportunity to work—no task was too small if it meant bringing food to the table or sending their children to school.

Still, the weight of their struggles reflected in Frank’s demeanor. At first, he was withdrawn, often lost in his own world, barely engaging with teachers or peers. His teachers, however, saw something in him —an inner spark waiting to be lit. That’s when Ms. Grace and Mr. Simon stepped in, not just as educators, but as mentors, cheerleaders, and anchors in his life.

They refused to let Frank slip through the cracks. With calm patience and gentle encouragement, they drew him out of his shell. Their classroom became a safe haven where Frank was never rushed but was always noticed. Through play-based learning, storytelling, and quiet one-on-one moments, Ms. Grace and Mr. Simon unlocked a side of Frank that had long been hidden.

Over time, that spark turned into a steady flame. Frank began to show signs of awareness, curiosity, and a love for details. He may not be the loudest in the room, but he became one of the most attentive. His ability to observe, notice patterns, and quietly grasp concepts others missed made him stand out in a whole new way. He grew more active—not just at school, but even at home, where his parents say he now contributes and expresses himself more.

The transformation wasn’t just in Frank. His parents also began to change, thanks to Hagari’s Family Development Plan sessions. These classes opened their eyes to new ways of thinking about parenting, saving, and future planning. They no longer felt stuck but instead empowered to slowly change the course of their family’s story.

Today, Frank is thriving. His eyes are alert, his thoughts clearer, and his presence in the classroom undeniable. He walks into school not just as a student, but as a young boy who has been nurtured into believing in himself. And behind this quiet miracle are two remarkable teachers—Ms. Grace and Mr. Simon—whose faith in Frank helped him rediscover his mind, his joy, and his future. Frank’s story reminds us that growth doesn’t always roar—it sometimes whispers. And in those whispers are the echoes of love, support, and the right people showing up at the right time. Because when we believe in children, even the quietest ones can rise.

Raised by Hagari: Yvonne’s Story of Hope

My name is Yvonne, I am 19 years old and currently in Level Five (11th grade). I am a proud child of Hagari Rwanda—a place I have called home and family for many years.

Before Hagari came into my life, I had no idea what my future would look like. I never expected to study in a good school or speak English. Life was uncertain, and I didn’t have the confidence or hope that I have now. But everything changed when Hagari took me in and began to walk with me.

Hagari Rwanda has raised me, guided me, and shaped me into the person I am becoming today. They have not only provided for my basic needs but also built my character, my faith, and my vision for the future. They have taught me how to live well in society, how to respect myself and others, and how to carry myself as a confident, well-behaved young woman.

Because of Hagari, I now try my best in school and in life. I have grown in confidence. I can now stand in front of people and speak without fear—a dream I never imagined would come true when I was younger. They also taught me the values of a Godly girl—honesty, obedience, humility, and love. I now have the Holy Spirit and the Word of God in me. I know how to pray, how to make wise choices, and how to believe in myself.

Whenever I make a mistake, they correct me with love. They are not just my mentors—they are my closest friends. They guide me, encourage me in my studies, and remind me that I have a future full of hope.

I especially love the moments when we go on outings together, visit beautiful places, or have celebration days. Those parties and get-togethers remind me that I am not alone. I belong to a big family that loves me.

In the future, I dream of becoming a woman of influence, someone who can give back to society and raise others the same way Hagari raised me. I want to become a legend in my country and a pillar in my family—and I know I can, because Hagari Rwanda believes in me.

I am deeply thankful for the love, care, and investment they have poured into my life. Their impact will remain in my heart forever.
